NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A provost at the University of Oklahoma says there is nothing in unusual in the fact that three deans have resigned in recent weeks.
Since June first the deans of the OU's colleges of engineering, fine arts and of journalism have resigned and say they'll return to teaching.
Provost Nancy Mergler says it's not unusual for three deans to step down in such a short time because there are always "comings and going" on any campus.
Journalism Dean Charles Self says he was at a crossroads and decided this is a good time to set alternate, personal goals.
Fine Arts Dean Marvin Lamb declined to discuss his reasons for leaving. Engineering Dean Arthur Porter is out of town and couldn't be reached for comment.
OU is also looking for a dean of a newly-created college combining four geology-related departments.
