GRAND LAKE, Okla. (AP) _ Biologists with the state Wildlife Department say they'll closely monitor a huge bass tournament at Grand Lake this weekend.
The move comes after hundreds of fish died following a bass tournament at the lake last weekend.
Kim Erickson with the wildlife department says 415 dead bass were counted after last week's tournament and many more likely died. And assistant chief of fisheries Barry Bolton says proper procedures apparently were not followed for care of the fish after they were caught.
This weekend's Heartland Pro-Am Bass Tournament on Grand Lake is expected to attract more than 100 competitors.
Grand River Dam Authority director Kevin Easley says summer fishing tournaments on Grand Lake may be banned if fish kills continue.
