WOODWARD, Okla. (AP) -- State auditors say Woodward County Sheriff Les Morton may have violated state laws when he used county credit cards to pay for travel expenses.
The audit reveals travel irregularities in Morton's meal, fuel and lodging charges. Auditors recommend that Morton reimburse the county over $9,000 for charges he made between July first, 2003, and March 28th.
They also advise that the county cancel credit cards for Morton's office.
The auditor's report also recommends that the district attorney review the findings to determine what action should be taken against Morton.
