ALTUS, Okla. (AP) A Martha woman is recovering from injuries she received after tumbling from a car while trying to retrieve a cigarette lighter.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 36-year-old Shelly Woodward was a passenger in a vehicle driving along U.S. Highway 283 just north of Altus Sunday night.
The patrol says Woodward opened the car door to retrieve a dropped cigarette lighter when she fell out of the car onto the highway.
Woodward was taken to an Altus hospital with numerous injuries. A hospital spokeswoman says Woodward was released yesterday.
The patrol says the vehicle Woodward was riding in was making a left turn onto a county road when she fell out of the car.
