A permanent tribute to a fallen US Marine with Oklahoma ties.

A memorial for Corporal Nathan Hammond was unveiled Friday in Broken Arrow. Hammond was from Missouri, but was based in Broken Arrow. He was only 24 when he was killed in Iraq last November.

Hammond's family watched Friday as doves were released in his honor. They say he will be remembered for the vigor and passion he brought to his work. Mother Debbie Hammond: "Challenge, excitement, living on the edge. That was always Nathan." Angela Hammond: "I think flying has always been his first love, so that's what he wanted to do for our country."

Nathan Hammond's memorial is located at Broken Arrow's Reserve Training Center, at Kenosha and Lynn Lane.
