With gas prices near record highs folks may be looking for cheaper transportation.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells climbed aboard the newest version of a classic two wheeler. You may have seen him whizzing around town.

OK, here's our opportunity to welcome back the Whizzer. Bob Hancock: "one and a half horse power motor and 120 miles per gallon." Of course many of us never even knew there was a Whizzer or where the Whizzer went, they started making them in 1939 and stopped in 1964. Bob Hancock: "Whizzer was the only new motor vehicle you could buy during World War II."

Every other vehicle production plant was converted to make war machinery. They started making them again in 1999 and Bob Hancock is the local dealer.

Check them out; they have got really cool white wall tires, high and low beam headlights. They come in 24 inch and 26 inch sizes and three colors. Bob Hancock: "red, black and blue right now." There's a bit of a learning curve, with the hand brake, the coaster brake and the clutch but there's no shifting. There's only one gear and its street legal. Bob Hancock: "they're under 5 horse power so you register it as a moped."

I got the hang of it with a few turns around the parking lot and after that I hit the street. Much better than a moped. Bob Hancock: "mopeds have never been cool to ride; Whizzers are always cool to ride." You said it.

Interested? Check them out at the Classic Storage Station in Broken Arrow at 61st and Lynn Lane. The phone number is 655-6649.
