Although there is no specific threat reported for Oklahoma, the state followed Washington DC's lead and put mass transit systems on heightened alert.
Those who ride the bus may not have noticed any changes, but Tulsa bus drivers were asked to be extra vigilant.
Tulsa Transit general manager Bill Cartwright: "basically we just remind them what we have already taught them: they need to be alert for any unusual packages left on the bus; any unusual automobiles parked where they shouldn't be; or any individual exhibiting any unusual behavior."
Tulsa International Airport did not raise its alert level and has not changed its normal security routine.
