OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Purchase cards used by more than two-thousand state workers will be investigated by state Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan.
McMahan says he's troubled by reports of fraud and inadequate controls for the cards in Oklahoma and across the country. He says he wants to find out what state workers are buying with the cards.
Purchase cards, similar to credit cards, are used by state workers for individual work-related purchases up to $2,500. But they have not been subjected to an independent audit in at least two years.
A state Tourism and Recreation Department worker, Angela Hanson, is charged in Oklahoma County District Court with five felony counts of embezzlement over alleged misuse of a purchase card.
