OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Wing of the Civil Air Patrol has deployed a satellite digital imaging system on one of its aircraft.

The new system alows near real-time transmission of digital photographs to any e-mail address. It will be used in search and rescue, damage assessment and homeland security missions.

The system was first deployed in Florida during the 2004 hurricane season. It's first use in Oklahoma allowed officials to estimate the crowd size during the opening day of Tinker Air Force Base's ``Star Spangled Salute'' open house.

The Civil Air Patrol is the volunteer auxiliary of the U-S Air Force. Members help federal, state and local authorities with homeland security, disaster relief and counter-drug missions.
