Some area kids got a free check-up Wednesday before heading off to summer camp. Doctors from the Tulsa County Medical Society gave free health screenings to lots of kids getting ready to head off to the week-long Salvation Army summer camp.

It's an opportunity for many of these kids who wouldn't otherwise have a chance to go to camp. Jerome Smith with the /Salvation Army: "And we'll run about 100 to 200 kids through the doctors today and they get their health screening. We check for lice and ticks and make them ready for camp and just load the buses in the next couple weeks.”

The Tulsa County Medical Society has provided the free health checks for 63 years.
