ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) _ An Ardmore pharmacist faces 60 days in jail and the permanent loss of his pharmacy license after being sentenced on prescription fraud.
Forty-eight year old Phillip M. Perot was given a three year sentence yesterday with all but two months suspended.
Authorities say Perot forged about 275 prescriptions -- or more than 45,000 tablets -- for hydrocodone during two years while he was a pharmacist at a Walgreens in Ardmore. Hydrocodone is a habit-forming painkiller.
The state Pharmacy Board says nearly $30,000 in prescriptions were billed to the state Medicaid system.
Investigators say Perot was the only pharmacist on duty when the questionable prescriptions were written and was the only one who had access to the computer.
He's scheduled to begin serving his time July 11th.
