An Oklahoma man has been killed in a single engine plane crash in Sarasota, Florida. Wilfred Frost's plane hit an elementary school before bursting into flames a few feet away.
Frost was on his way from Sarasota for Venice. He tried to turn back because the plane was having problems. An officer first spotted the plane flying low and erratic.
Frost is a resident of Newalla, Oklahoma. His death has the community in mourning.
Those who knew him say Frost was a highly-skilled pilot who even built the kit-plane he was piloting. Neighbor Marshall Alexander: "Yeah that's what surprised me the most, that if I was going to be in a predicament in the air he was one that I'd want to be in the airplane with me." Neighbor Donna Alexander: "There's' that phone call and there was a crash. OK, so what happened ya know because he's just one of those guys that know how to get out of a predicament."
Friends say Frost went to Sarasota a lot to work on his planes.
