North Evanston Standoff ends with arrest

Residents in an otherwise quiet north Tulsa neighborhood were allowed to return to their homes after more than two hours of a tense standoff between an armed resident and police Thursday evening.

The incident began shortly after 7PM Thursday when two men began arguing about a dog. A man Tulsa police identified as 49 year-old Charles Caudle reportedly fired a shot at the other man who ran from the scene.

Caudle then returned to his home. Police arrived shortly after that and Caudle reportedly fired one shot at officers from what was believed to be a 9 millimeter handgun.

Later, a woman in the house and Caudle himself appeared several times in their driveway to talk to officers.

Finally, officers fired several canisters of teargas into the home and the woman came outside. Police fire eleven canisters in all, including a 'flash-bang' device into the house before Caudle emerged unarmed, about 9:30PM.

He was taken to a local hospital for examination before he was transported to jail.

At its height, the operation involved some 70 police officers, including the special operations team and reserve officers.
