NORMAN, Okla. (AP) A Lexington man's been charged after allegedly letting a pit bull terrier loose to attack two sheriff's deputies.
Cleveland County authorities filed the charge against 44-year-old Robert Allen Gilley. Gilley's accused of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Gilley allegedly used the dog as a weapon by allowing the animal to attack deputies Thomas Edwards and Thomas Pletcher. The two deputies used batons to beat back the dog and weren't injured.
Officials say the deputies were responding to a disturbance call Tuesday night at Gilley's house when they were attacked.
Gilley ran into his house and set the dog loose in the yard. The dog jumped into a car after being hit with the batons.
