OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Plans to expand the missions of Oklahoma's military bases will bring a military building boom to the state.
Defense Department documents indicate 354 million dollars in military construction projects will be needed to accommodate expansion of the bases and projects in some communities.
Four of Oklahoma's five military bases would gain work under Pentagon proposals being studied by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
The Defense Department says that at Fort Sill Army Post near Lawton, 245 million dollars in construction projects are planned in the next two years.
Smaller projects are planned at Tinker Air Force Base, Vance Air Force Base and the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. Only Altus Air Force Base would have a net loss of jobs, and that would be minor.
