A Good Samaritan is recovering in the hospital after he was attacked while helping another victim.

Tim Therrian was stabbed almost a week ago at the Super Target in Tulsa. He spoke to the News on 6 for the first time from his hospital bed.

6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca says this all started when a Target employee stopped a shoplifter and the suspect started stabbing the employee with a large knife. Tim Therrian says the guard started calling for help and he just reacted. He went over to help the man and that's when the suspect stabbed him.

Therrian is a Vietnam vet who served in the Navy. After this ordeal, he says he's lucky to be alive. "He was out to hurt somebody that day. I could sense it. He was out to hurt somebody that day. He just thought he was it."

Therrian expects to be out of the hospital this week. Even though he was stabbed, he says he wouldn't hesitate to help again.

Tulsa Police are looking for a man described as between the ages of 18 and 25 and is about 5'9" with a muscular build. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS.
