OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A Norman man who was trying to stop his boat from drifting away apparently died at Lake Texoma over the weekend.

The Oklahoma Lake Patrol says Michael L. McConnell was docking his boat at the lake's north islands around 5:30 PM Saturday when the boat drifted away and he swam after it.

Witnesses say he appeared to be struggling in the water but they couldn't reach him before he went under.

Troopers says they found the 46-year-old about 1500 yards from the shore two hours later.
