HYDRO, Okla. (AP) -- A 15-year-old boy was killed when he was thrown from a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle in Caddo County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Joseph Anthony Lutz of Hydro was killed in the 4:40 PM mishap Sunday.
Troopers say Lutz was driving the all-terrain vehicle on a dirt trail on private property about five miles east of Hydro.
He was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit a dip and the vehicle went airborne for 16 feet, landing on the right front wheel. The vehicle rolled two and one-quarter times and Lutz was ejected 32 feet.
The patrol says he was taken to a hospital in Weatherford and transferred to University Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he died of internal injuries.
Troopers say Lutz was wearing a helmet.
