TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A Tulsa couple is in critical condition Monday after their motorcycle hit a deer that was standing in a roadway just north of Tahlequah.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 47-year-old Vince Matthews was driving the 1999 Harley-Davidson. His wife -- Brodeen Matthews -- was a passenger.
The patrol says the bike was northbound early Monday morning when it hit the deer, ejecting the couple from the bike. Both were transported by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where they were listed in critical condition with head injuries.
The patrol says neither were wearing helmets.
