OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education approve a budget for the upcoming fiscal year that includes 87 million dollars in new funding.
Included in the budget is 14 million dollars more in scholarships.
State regents said yesterday they're hopeful the 10.8 percent increase will hold tuition increases at colleges and universities to under 10 percent.
The total state appropriation for higher ed for fiscal year 2006 was 889.4 million dollars.
For the second year, the legislature increased higher education appropriations to make up for serious budget cutbacks in fiscal years 2003 and 2004.
