A plan is taking shape to improve the quality of some north Tulsa schools. It starts with spending more time in class, by starting school a week early.

School administrators considered it a positive sign when they didn't have enough chairs for all the parents and teachers who wanted to hear about the changes. The start date will now be August 15th for more than a dozen schools.

Some parents view it as a penalty. Others see it as an opportunity to improve. Parent Adriene Wherry: "Are these changes going to affect the curriculum. Because curriculum is what matters to me.”

Sixteen north Tulsa schools that feed into the Tulsa School for Science and Technology will start school on August 15th. For all other Tulsa students, the start date remains August 22nd.

The start date is final; other changes depend on ongoing input from parents.
