NORMAN, Okla. (AP) A Cleveland County jury finds a Shawnee man accused in a road-rage shooting death guilty of first-degree manslaughter and recommends a 15-year prison sentence.
Prosecutors had sought first-degree murder charges against 65-year-old David Burton.
Burton pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the February, 2004, shooting death of 44-year-old Timothy James Moore.
Witnesses say the two men were traveling eastbound on State Highway 9 when they got into an altercation and swerved at one another. According to testimony, Burton got out of his car at a stoplight and began punching Moore through an open window. After Moore kicked Burton through the window, witnesses say Burton pulled out a gun and shot Moore once in the chest.
