Mayfest will take over downtown Tulsa this weekend and a hometown band is headlining this year's festival. Hanson will take to the stage Friday night.

News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims talked to the band and tells us how this performance will bring them full circle. The Tulsa trio is all grown up and returning to Mayfest, the festival that gave them their start.

21 year old Taylor Hanson: "this is going to be alot different but its pretty amazing to have gone so far over the last 13 years and come back and stake your claim and say its good to be back."

Even before Mmm-bop became an international smash hit, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac played Mayfest in 1992, at just 11, 9 and 6. 19 year old Zac: "I think there's been a big evolution for us as a band but I think there is still a part of us that's still Hanson from 1992." The Hanson brothers have come a long way.

They're now in their 20s, with three albums under their belt. The Hansons are no longer just performers. They're writing and producing their own music on their own independent record label. Zac: "we're just in it cause we love making music and its part of who we are as people." For their 13th anniversary as a band, they wanted to give back. 24 year old Isaac: "Mayfest has done such a great job of supporting the local arts community and its continued to be a part of the community in that way and we think that is extremely valuable and we want to support it as much as possible."

And they're proof that the Mayfest stage can lead to bigger and brighter things. You can see Hanson perform this Friday night at 9 on the main stage at 3rd and Cincinnati.
