TOKYO (AP) _ Toyota is investigating complaints from US drivers about its hybrid Prius cars stalling.
Company officials say a few owners of 2004 and 2005 Prius models are saying their cars stalled. The Japanese automaker says it's looking into the number of complaints, technical issues and possible causes.
There has been no recall, and federal regulators have not opened an official investigation.
Hybrid vehicles deliver better mileage by switching between a gasoline engine and an electric motor. Toyota is the worldwide leader in hybrid sales.
More than 88,000 of the 2004 and 2005 Prius cars have been sold in the United States.
