ENID, Okla. (AP) _ Supporters of Vance Air Force Base say their work to keep the base open isn't done, even though it isn't on the Pentagon's list of bases recommended to be shut down.
Former mayor and current Vance Development Authority member Mike Cooper says he's in Washington now to make sure Vance isn't added to the list as the base closure process continues. And Cooper says he wants to make sure city officials are doing everything they can to help the Pentagon with plans to expand Vance.
The closure list still must be reviewed by an independent commission, the president and Congress.
None of Oklahoma's major bases are on the Pentagon list released Friday of bases recommended for closure.
