OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state House Thursday passed a bill requiring women receive certain information before getting an abortion, requiring parental notification before an abortion is performed on a minor and allowing prosecution for injury to a fetus.
Women seeking an abortion must be told of medical risks associated with an abortion, the age of the fetus, that the father is liable for financial support and that government benefits may be available.
It also requires the parents or guardian of a minor be notified in writing at least 48 hours before an abortion is performed. The bill includes a provision allowing a minor to ask a judge to bypass parental notification.
And the bill makes it a crime for injuring a fetus in a shooting or an assault and battery.
The bill now goes to the governor.
