A US Marine recently back from Iraq has his home broken into. The break in happened in Tahlequah.
News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says there is a yellow ribbon in the driveway and a flag on the front porch. The thieves went past both to get to the garage door and steal the belongings of Corporal Dustin Butler, US Marines. "They got garage door open, took what they wanted and left."
Thieves pushed in his garage door, and took his pack with all his uniforms, except the one he's wearing. They took some empty ammunition magazines, left a few behind, and took his tent and everything else he brought back from Iraq - except an extra pair of boots.
Butler and his buddies spent 7 months in Iraq. He came back a month ago. Cpl Butler's house is surrounded by woods, so he doesn't have neighbors who could have seen anything. The Tahlequah Police Department say they have a few leads, but nothing solid, and what they need is a good tip from the public.
The thieves didn't stay long but the loot they took is worth about $5,000, some of it property of the Marines, some of it his. He's hoping it will turn up somewhere, so he doesn't have to pay to replace it.
