State rests its case in the trial of a man charged with killing an OHP trooper

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) -- Prosecutors rest their case after presenting DNA evidence that places a Duncan man's blood on the clothing of an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper he allegedly killed.

According to evidence read into the record by the judge, Ricky Ray Malone's blood was found in the front left pocket of Trooper Nikky Joe Green.

Prosecutors allege Malone killed Green after the pair struggled when Green tried to arrest Malone early on December 26th, 2003.

According to the evidence summary, the probability that the blood found on Green's clothing belongs to someone other than Malone is one in 6-billion white people. It's based on tests that were conducted by an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminalist.

Defense attorney Don Gutteridge chose not to dispute the DNA test results, saying his defense focuses on intent.

Gutteridge will present his case Monday morning.
