McAlester voters to decide on recall of two city councilors

A Pittsburg county town is recalling two of its city councilors.

The McAlester City Council is expected to set either a July 12th or September 13th date for the recall election of councilors Louis Smitherman and Mike Dawkins.

Residents asked for the recall election after reports that the city council approved payments of more than a half million dollars to buy back unused leave and vacation time from former City Manager Randy Green.

Smitherman and Dawkins are accused of failing to represent the city and mismanaging city finances.
