Thursday is the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo and that gave some local kids reason to celebrate.

Students at McClure Elementary School in Tulsa celebrated with a school assembly and kindergartners through the fifth graders put on special performances. Susan Baston with McClure Elementary: "As our Hispanic population is growing, not only throughout our elementary, but across the district, and across the United States, it's important we recognize and honor, no just Cinco de Mayo, but all cultures and this is an important holiday for the Hispanic population."

All the kids also did special art projects including sombreros, maracas and piñatas.
