It's the season for sneezing. Spring means a lot of folks have watery eyes and runny noses. News on 6 anchor LeAnne Taylor has advice for controlling allergies in this Medical Update.
Spring has sprung and it's allergy season. With all the trees and flowers in bloom, you may be suffering with sneezing, congestion and itchy, watery eyes. 50 million Americans have seasonal allergies. In a recent study, 8 out of 10 allergy sufferers have eye symptoms that affect daily life.
The survey found that most people, who suffer from the problem, don't use medication to treat the symptoms and besides medicine, there are simple things you can do to reduce the symptoms.
It's not always possible, but when pollen counts are at a peak, try to stay in doors, keep the windows in your home and car closed. After you've been outdoors, change your clothes and shower regularly to remove allergens from your face, body and hair. Wash your hand frequently and change out the filters in your air conditioner.
These may give you a little relief until the season passes.
