ALTUS, Okla. (AP) _ Altus officials may ask the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife to help catch a mountain lion that apparently has been seen in different parts of town.

The latest sighting came yesterday morning, when the cat was seen chasing another animal along some railroad tracks.

Police said the animal also was seen in an irrigation ditch east of a shopping mall.

Altus Assistant Police Chief Mike Howeth said an animal control officer saw a long-tailed cat heading into tall grass after officers received a call on Thursday.

The animal appears to staying close to an area where a man reported losing some goats, but Howeth says there have been sightings in other parts of the city.

Howeth says the city may consider calling in the state Department of Wildlife to trap the animal before somebody's pet poodle goes missing.
