GUYMON, Okla. (AP) _ Officials are awaiting an autopsy on a Guymon eighth grader who was found at the bottom of a hotel swimming pool in Oklahoma City.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, was with a group of Guymon Junior High School students who were about to go swimming at the hotel where they were staying on Thursday.

Superintendent Bob Neel says the boy and other male students were told to wait for the sponsors to return from accompanying the female student as they went to change.

Neel says at some point, it was discovered that the boy was missing.

Bathrooms, the parking lot and other areas were searched before the student was found at the bottom of the pool.

Emergency medical personnel tried to revive the boy before he was transported to Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He died yesterday.

How the boy ended up in the pool wasn't immediately known.
