A judge ruled that two Tulsa City Councilors will have to face a recall and ordered an election date to be set.
Councilors Jim Mautino and Chris Medlock will face a recall election, despite filing lawsuits to block the process.
6 in the Morning Reporter Omar Villafranca says it all started when a group calling itself "the Coalition for Responsible Government" collected signatures to recall Jim Mautino and Chris Medlock. The group labels both councilors as anti-growth and says they block city business.
Medlock and Mautino challenged the petition signatures and the verification process, but Thursday afternoon, a Tulsa County judge ordered the City Council to set a date for the recall election.
During Thursday's city council meeting, both Medlock and Mautino left the chambers before councilors voted to set the date. The rest of the city council agreed to have the election on July 12th.
We don't know what the two councilors can do now or if they plan on taking any more steps to block the recall.
