McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- A state prison spokeswoman says a metal detector recently installed in a maximum security unit seems to be working.
Spokeswoman Lee Man says no weapons have been found on inmates who must walk through the detector as they leave the cell block and go into the exercise yard at the state penitentiary in McAlester.
The metal detector was installed last month following two fights in which two inmates were stabbed and three home-made knives were found.
