Bixby Police are part of a federal program called "Project Under 21." It's designed to keep alcohol out of the hands of underage kids.
Bixby undercover officers took an underage informant around town Saturday night to try to buy low point beer and alcohol. Of the 15 businesses they tried, four restaurants and two convenience stores sold to the informant. Police issued five misdemeanor citations and arrested a waiter at a "Chili's" restaurant.
Officers made two stops there Saturday night, once at the bar and later in the restaurant section. Bixby Police officer Erik Smoot: "When we talked to the manager after that, he was shocked. He had talked to his employees in between the two times, let them know we were out doing this, just reminded them again about checking IDs and was totally surprised that after that meeting, someone would have sold alcohol to a minor."
The waiter now faces a felony charge of selling alcohol to an underage person.
