Their dad is a Navy medic serving in the Middle East, but it's the kids that have the cure for what ails him. Joe Paul has been stationed in Qatar for the past 6 months.
He's never had a deployment anywhere near this long before. And apparently the food leaves something to be desired. So, Thursday, his two boys, fourth-grader Joseph and second-grader Tyler were boxing up some goodies for dad at St. Mary's Elementary in Tulsa.
There is a Frisbee, a banner signed by many of their classmates and two big boxes of Arby's sauce. Glenda Paul: "He said you can always tell that the beef is not grain-fed, it comes from another country, so they needed some sauce to cover it up the taste of the beef."
Joseph Paul: “The meat tastes nasty with the sauce so he told us to send the Arby's sauce."
The older Joe gets to come home for two weeks in June. And then it's back to the Middle East for 6 more months.
