OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma seventh-graders will be using computers to take a state-mandated geography test this week.
The test will be administered online, and education officials expect that in a few years all state tests will be given on computers.
The conversion to computers has caused some growing pains, In Tulsa, school officials had problems uploading student information. Oklahoma City educators discovered the system isn't reporting scores after practice tests are given.
State officials selected geography as the online pilot test because it isn't considered high stakes by the federal government, unlike math and reading tests. Officials say that if schools encounter significant problems, it won't affect the state's entire testing program.
