Oklahoma voters are headed to the polls Tuesday to decide a number of issues. Tulsa voters will decide whether to approve 6 propositions, dealing with everything from street improvements to flood control.
6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca says the 6 propositions total more than $250-million. The biggest bonds would pay for street repairs in the City of Tulsa.
Some neighborhood streets in Tulsa are so bad; the bond would pay for curb-to-curb replacement. Everything from water lines to sidewalks would get fixed. The $154-million bond would also patch up potholes, which drivers swerve to avoid.
Another proposition on the ballot deals with improving the flood control. The city says Fred Creek needs upgrades to keep the water from flooding nearby apartments and business.
$32-million would improve the city's sewers.
$5-million would help expand the Tulsa Police's forensics’ lab.
$19-million would help Tulsa Firefighters build a new training center and rehab several stations.
And another $5-million would help public facilities, like the Gilcrease Museum.
The polls open up until 7 PM. The bonds in Tulsa aren't all that's being voted on Tuesday.
Voters in several other communities are headed to the polls Tuesday as well. Owasso and Claremore voters will decide school bonds for construction and transportation. In Wagoner, voters will decide a 4 percent hotel - motel tax.
