OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A union official says General Motors may consider cutting production at the Oklahoma City assembly plant to one shift.

Bob Alexander of the United Auto Workers Local in Oklahoma City says plant officials are studying several options to deal with a reduced demand for the Chevrolet TrailBlazers and GMC Envoys made at the plant.

GM has said it will end production of the Envoy XUV made in Oklahoma City. GM also cut production at the plant by 25 percent earlier this year and laid off 250 workers.

Cutting back to one shift would mean hundreds more layoffs.

A GM spokeswoman would not confirm a study is under way at the Oklahoma City plant, but says the company conducts regular feasibility studies at several plants.

The Oklahoma City plant currently runs two shifts and has about 2200 employees.
