OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Officials from the Oklahoma Poison Control Center say child poisoning accidents are on the rise.
The accidents usually occur when parents are distracted.
OPCC Director Lee Goodwin says medicines that are similar in appearance and flavor to candy or fruit juice are the cause of the increase.
Adult dosages may be life-threatening to children, and prescription medicine such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis can be fatal to children even in small amounts.
Officials recommend using child-resistant caps and keeping medicine in places out of children's reach.
