MIAMI,Okla. (AP) _ Miami residents are trying to keep a Boy Scout camp from closing.
About 100 residents showed up for a meeting Thursday night to discuss ways to save Camp Cherokee, located on Oklahoma 10 overlooking Grand Lake.
Meeting attendees decided to gather signatures opposing the sale of the 56-year-old camp and present them at Thursday's meeting of the Cherokee Area Boy Scout Council.
The council is considering selling the 13-hundred acre camp because of a number of deficiencies that have been cited at the camp.
