With only three days remaining before the election, Mayor Bill LaFortune and Democratic challenger Kathy Taylor appear poised to win their parties' primaries.

The latest Oklahoma Poll conducted by The News on 6 and the Tulsa World shows LaFortune with a comfortable, but not commanding lead among likely Republican voters.

He leads with 38-percent to Councilor Chris Medlock's 19-percent and County Commissioner Randi Miller's 14 percent. There's still 29-percent undecided.

Among the Democrats, Kathy Taylor leads Don McCorkell 49 percent to 27 percent. 23 percent of likely Democratic voters are undecided.

We should note the poll taken late last week, after Mayor LaFortune suspended the police chief and before allegations of voting irregularities were raised among the Democratic candidates.

We also asked voters in Tulsa if they felt the city was headed in the right or wrong direction. 55-percent of likely voters say we are going in the wrong direction. 33-percent say the city is on the right track.

The margin of error for this mayoral poll is 4 percent.
