OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A bill to allow Oklahomans to re-import US-manufactured drugs from Canada and other industrialized nations clears a state Senate committee.

The bill is being pushed by Governor Brad Henry, who says many other states around the country have similar laws.

Henry says prescription drugs have increased so much it forces some Oklahomans to have to choose whether to buy food or crucial medicine.

The bill now goes to the state Senate floor for consideration.
