New information about the investigation into a Union Public School teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a student.
Broken Arrow Police say the 15-year-old male student told them he's had a sexual relationship with his female teacher for four months.
News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims says Union's Intermediate High School is in the middle of a police investigation into teacher misconduct.
Broken Arrow Police say a 15 year old student told them Thursday; he was having a sexual relationship with his 28 year old science teacher.
Broken Arrow Police Major Mark Irwin: "The victim alleges that it occurs over a four month period of time that there were several different incidences of inappropriate sexual relations between the two."
Major Irwin says the police department is taking the allegations very seriously. Union will not discuss them, but they did say they're investigating the issue.
Many parents are concerned. Union parent Linda Dunbar: "unfortunately it didn’t shock me. I was disappointed, but unfortunately things like this we hear in the media everyday." Linda Dunbar is president of the Parent teacher Association Council. She says she had to have a frank discussion with her son, and she encourages other parents to do the same.
Despite the allegations, she remains confident in the school district. "I have great faith in Broken Arrow Police that they will handle this and get to the bottom of it. And I have great faith in the district that they're number one concern is to protect the children."
