OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma State Treasurer candidate Daniel Keating is ousted as chairman of a panel that advises the Oklahoma Tax Commission on cigarette collections.

The twin brother of former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating remains a member of the Cigarette Tax and Advisory Committee.

Before the move, Keating attempted to gavel the meeting to a close and walked out when the issue of committee officers was raised under new business Monday.

But Tax Commission staff said the meeting couldn't end with business still pending.

The panel then voted 4-to-2 to elect Bill Maxwell as the new chairman.

Some members had grumbled that Keating shouldn't continue as chairman and use his position as a political forum.

Keating didn't return several calls from the Associated Press to his Tulsa telephone number.
