SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- A wind-whipped grass fire sweeps across about 300 acres in west Shawnee, coming within a few miles of the state's Incident Command Post.

Fire information officer Mary Steuver says workers at the command post could see flames and smoke from their offices at the Shawnee Expo Center Sunday.

No structures were burned, and no injuries were reported.

Another grass fire near Wayne in southern Cleveland County burned about five acres along Interstate 35. The blaze forced the closure of both north and southbound lanes for about two hours.

Fire conditions were ideal Sunday, with low humidity and wind gusts as high as 40 miles per hour. Slightly higher humidity and lower wind speeds are expected over the next few days, but officials say the fire danger will remain high.
