Florida high school rescinds invite to Jerry Springer

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ Sarasota High School cheerleaders will have to find another valentine to headline their dance Saturday, after administrators gave their choice of Jerry Springer an 'F'.

The talk-show host -- who lives in Sarasota -- had accepted an invitation from the school's cheerleaders to headline the ``Hollywood Nights'' dance. But administrators withdrew the invitation yesterday. They say Springer, whose T-V guests include unfaithful lovers and brawling friends, is not an appropriate role model for students.

The cheerleaders, who sponsor the dance, say they just wanted a local celebrity. The cheerleaders are looking for another host.
