The Cherokee County Health Department confirms that a 44-year-old man died Friday of meningococcal infection.
The health department has notified everyone who might be at risk after being around the man and recommended antibiotics. They say no other cases have been confirmed and the general public is not at risk.
Oklahoma had 19 reported cases of the disease last year, four were deadly. The Cherokee County case is Oklahoma's first of 2006.
