Oklahomans are one step closer to getting a tax break on back to school supplies. A state Senate committee has passed a proposal to create a three-day sales tax holiday in August.

A new Oklahoma Poll shows that's what voters want. The News on 6-Tulsa World poll shows 55 percent of those surveyed strongly support it. Only 8 percent strongly oppose it.

The Oklahoma Poll also shows strong support for a teacher pay raise. 62 percent strongly support raising salaries from the current average of $35,000 to the regional average of $42,000.

State lawmakers are also going to have a surplus to spend this year. 47 percent of voters say we should save it for future use. 38 percent want the state to cut taxes.
